Teaching all things music industry and digital media while carefully weaving in life skills to Washington DC area artists,
at risk youth and returning citizens.
Welcome to the official website for
Academy DC Powered by EZ Street and Creative Solutions 4 Youth LLC & 501c3 non profit.
I started The Academy in 2017.
Check out how we are doing.
Winner of the Academy DC “I GOT NEXT CHALLENGE”, Ice Karim won $500 DTLR Gift Card, Free Video Shoot & Studio time courtesy of Haven House Studios. Plus the video for “Amazing” debuted in all DTLR stores nationwide! His video was also featured on WUSA 9.
Our youngest in charge FLY ZYAH is currently getting airplay for her GoGo Remix of “Dear DC” on WKYS & WHUR. She was also featured on NBC4 by Shawn Yancey.
Going virtual wasn’t all bad. EZ Street Academy DC was even able to expose even more dynamic music industry professionals to our students via zoom!
NEW HOODIE DAY!
Many of Our Clients Are Millennials or Gen X
WE CREATE UNIQUE EXPERIENCES TO AID US IN TEACHING LIFE SKILLS . HIGH ATTENDANCE TELLS THAT WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK
YOGA & CHILL
Each 16 week session we bring in our certified Yogi Akil Taffe to teach stretching and breathing techniques. Akil is also The Regional Marketing Director for RCA records. He also teaches our clients the in and outs of the record business as well. Emotional intelligence and Self Awareness are hallmarks of what we teach our returning citizens.
JOB READNIESS TRAINING
One of the biggest obstacles our clients face is unemployment and having a challenged past can make this even more difficult. To address this we brought in Carmen Drummond to assist us in getting our clients job ready. We are also working with a few local businesses who have agreed to offer second chances to returning citizens. Click here for more info.
MEDITATION & AFFIRMATIONS
We use our clients love of music as a gateway to teach ‘life skills’ and promote total wellness, but our ability to do so becomes more difficult if our clients haven’t found healthy methods of addressing trauma. Hamani Wilson who leads the Union Temple Baptist church Manhood training teaches meditation techniques to our clients. Click here for more info.
MAN TIME PRODUCED BY OUR STUDENTS NOV 2019
Man Time was written, conceptualized and produced by 8 of our students. Life in Washington DC can be rough for some. They wanted to acknowledge the very real forces that are constantly attempting to pull them back into the street life. Hence the Crabs in the Barrel hook on track and the crabs at the table on the By ALL Means 2020 Mixtape cover. On this track they vow to stay the course and push forward to find and define their own manhood. They chose Fredrick Douglass and Dr Martin Luther King Jr. as men they felt were “real men” to model themselves after. 2 of our students were cameramen on the set of Man Time.

Meeting Them Where They Are
WE TEACH OUR CLIENTS HOW TO PRODUCE SONGS, MUSIC VIDEOS, CD ART, SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIES, STAGE PERFORMANCE,BREATH CONTROL, HOW TO INTERVIEW ON RADIO OR TV AND MORE
MUSIC VIDEO PRODUCTION
Each 16 week session our clients team up to create and conceptualize a music video from scratch. We first record the actual song then create the video. This is also a opportunity to expose them to cameras and the equipment used to create. Some have expressed interest in learning how to produce and we are exploring the idea of doing a few sessions on how to actually shoot and edit the videos themselves. Click here to see the videos they conceptualized.
LIVE PERFORMANCE TRAINING
Most of our clients are raw talents and most have never performed on stage or with a live band. We recently created a a jam session where our clients performed their verses with a live band. It was pretty amazing! Click here to see how it turned out.
RADIO INTERVIEW TRAINING & PODCAST
Our founder EZ Street has 30 years of radio and tv experience and has interview some heavyweights. We also teach our clients how to conduct themselves in a radio or television interview. Plus we record a podcast with our artists to promote their music. Hear their podcast below
